The dealership (the same one that gave me are hard time before, I sent that it there on the offchance it was the same thing as before...plus...payments) said they’d look at my car at noon, I just called (it’s 2:30 now), asking for an update....

Apparently the service guy ( the same one I had before) gave permission to fix the pt. Dumbfounded, I listened to him talk some more then said “wait, I’m confused. Aren’t you suppose to ask permission first before you start working on a car?” He says some stuff that I caught then forgot because I lingered on the last part, where he pretty much said they’d cover the charge.

From what I understand, a wire went bad, so they are trying to bypass it or something. Oh yeah, my car didn’t want to start again, I found this out last Sunday after I tried to move the pt out of the driveway.

Anyways, once i realized that I would have to pay nothing, I promptly blurted out “I love you...*pause*...platonically of course”. Not sure if he felt awkward, because he said he had to go. Of course, I made the phone call right next to my wife, who looked at me strangely and asked “did you just say you loved him?” “It was platonically!”

So don't worry oppo, Jolly Roger will Saul again....and I'm probably will still have to look for a 2nd car...

Sounds like the car probably stopped running in a place where they needed it moved, so they had to fix it asap.

Yeah, but at least I have transport to look at other cars now. Plus, oppo might implode if it lost the only pt in its fleet. Someone has to fill the gap of the fat kid!

Right in front of a garage door would be fantastic.

I actually had that happen. Brought my old Nissan to the dealer to get the camshaft positioning sensor replaced (would cause the car to not start). Pulled into the service queue area and had to switch keys since the ones in the ignition had my apartment keys on them and I kinda needed them and handed the service manager the key and left. Called me and told me the sensor was bad and they had to replace it to move the car out of the queue area. I lol’d

You got to find a way to get a Camry or Accord man so you can save your money for something fun/interesting that you might want. No point in replacing the JR with something else that will be in the shop 6 times a year just draining money that could be put to better use. I know your wife hates anything foreign but at this point unless she’s footing the bill she’ll have to understand that reliability at this stage in your lives should be top priority.

We’re looking at the Grand Prix as a possible choice too, but I can look into those two. At this point, almost anything is free game.

Wait they are bypassing a wire? Shouldn’t they replace it, instead of just rigging it up to work.

Eh, they might be bypassing it to see if that’s the issue. When I called they were in the middle of doing it.

I think you should get an early 2000s Honda CRV. It has the space, ground clearance and optional part time AWD (only activates when it detects wheel slippage). My mom has had a 2002 for a few years and has been dead reliable aside from needing new brakes and the timing belt change.

Use this website to help you in your car search: autotempest.com you can search multiple websites and it’ll even search craigslist of all the surrounding counties within the area radius you select. Using 48916 zipcode I found a couple of CRVs for around $5000.

http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/ctd/5051825808… - 2004 CRV - 150k mi- $6500

Not exactly glamorous but way under your budget, 150k on that engine isn’t bad and will likely be dead reliable or extremely cheap to fix. Obviously run a car fax first.

Seriously check out Autotempest to find used cars it's a fantastic tool. I'm not saying settle on a CRV but like I said it can carry a ton of stuff, gets good gas mileage and faux-Awd when you need it.

Don't you need a loan or something for s car on CL?

Did you click the link? The car is at a used car dealership. Dealerships advertise on CL too. In fact when you search used cars on CL there is an option that says Dealers or Private party. Any car you get from a dealership is going to require a loan.

Sorry, I did click on it, but I was wondering in general for for sale by owner cars. Sorry for not clarifying , :)

If you’re going to get a car private party a credit union can write up a loan for you , depending on the age of the car you might get a great loan or a crappy one (among other factors like your credit history and debt). Obviously newer cars get ridiculously good financing like 0.9% for 60 months.
